The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the pool was really quite lovely. Perfect for those looking for a lower budget hotel but without skimping on the basics, MararI Green Villas has a special place in my heart.

Tucked away down a back street, this small hotel was an absolute gem of a find during my adventures around Kerala. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the pool was really quite lovely. What I really enjoyed with this hotel was the free bikes on offer. Being able to borrow bikes and helmets to explore the nearby streets was brilliant. We even took a ride down to the beach and had some fresh peanuts watching the waves. The food at the hotel was so-so, but the breakfast poha was definitely a win. I would recommend heading out of the hotel for dinner, there's a lot of great places nearby to eat at.

The rooms had a great added feature of sturdy mosquito nets on all the windows. It was wonderful being able to leave the windows open at night and enjoy the sounds of summer without worrying about malaria.

As the hotel is a little off the beaten track, insects were to be expected. One night, I lost my mind as there was a big huntsman loitering around our wardrobe. A quick call to the front desk and the spider was carefully carried outside.

Unfortunately I didn't get any good photos of the villa, but I can assure you that the ones from their website are pretty spot on.
